Goal for Dive site 1:
Focus cleanup on Sheep's Crossing site and exceed the quantity of
litter collected during last month's cleanup. The location of this site
was optimal since it is located downstream far enough from where Salt River
Recreation Tubers are put into the water.
Process:
To dive and snorkel these key sites and remove the litter from the areas using
mesh bags and burlap sacks. Photograph the sites to record our data both
on land and underwater.
Quantity of divers:
Four divers on this cleanup
Results:
The results were good and we collected an additional 1150 cans
from the river. The visibility was between 8-10 feet and the river
water flow was at 472 ft3/sec. Even though the flow rate was
good, there were a lot of particles in the water which made it
difficult to obtain clear underwater photographs. We spotted numerous
largemouth bass on this underwater cleanup as well as schools of suckers and
some new additions.......a school of catfish. Please see the
links below for photographs depicting the days activities.
