To all those who participated in the 2002 Cleanup

Thanks again for helping us celebrate The Ocean Conservancy
and Clean Water Act's 30th Anniversary

The Lower Salt River Cleanup on October 19, 2002 was a success and Kim and I want to thank everyone who helped out with the event.  The overall results are in and the collective effort from the 486 people who participated cleaned up 21 tons of litter during the cleanup.  What a great success!!

Special thanks goes out to Arizona Clean & Beautiful and the Tonto National Forest Mesa Ranger District who were the driving forces in getting the event organized here in Arizona.  Great work and many thanks to you all!!

Please take a moment to look at the highlights and photo links at the bottom.

Cleanup Highlights

  • Everyone's efforts yielded 21 tons of litter from The Salt River

  • There were approximately 436 people who showed up and helped clean The8 Salt River

  • Our group made up almost 10% percent of the total........Not too bad for our first year of involvement

  • Scuba Sciences divers recovered  over 6 bags of litter from the river at the  Foxtail site

  • The Scuba Rangers and their families made up a large portion of the effort

  • We helped to get Cleanup Date set for next year!!!

Please add it this date to your calendars...Saturday October 18th, 2003

We really appreciate everyone taking time, early on a Saturday morning and helping to clean up our Arizona waterways.   We are hoping for a bigger turn out next year and look forward to seeing you all again.

Thank you all

Jay & Kim
