Each year The Ocean Conservancy, the world's largest and oldest organization dedicated solely to protecting the oceans, holds an essay contest and grants one lucky youth between the ages of 12-17 a free Scholarship to Seacamp.  Seacamp, a no non profit organization based in Florida Keys, is made up of parents, scientists, businessmen, camp leaders who are all dedicated to the education of youth in marine science.

The topic for 2003 was:
Why do you think the oceans are important, and what do you think it will take to protect our oceans? Discuss the threats to our oceans and coastal areas and what you think it will take - especially from young people like yourself - to protect our oceans for generations to come.
