Earth Day's 2003 Theme is Are you going to make a difference? Have you made a difference this year and in the future? Read on and find out how you can: Since The Salt River Cleanup of 2002, Kim and I have been trying to pool the resources of divers in Arizona to help participate in an ongoing effort to clean up the waterways of our beautiful state. This effort is a rather daunting task and so far we've been successful in recruiting divers from Scuba Sciences in Phoenix to lend a hand in a few of our efforts. Additionally we are working closely with other organizations such as Arizona Clean & Beautiful and the Tonto National Forest Mesa Rangers. The Rangers have been extremely helpful and are making it possibly for our team of divers to get to the problems areas help so we can clean up the litter that most people can't get to. Listed below are some links to pages showing what we've accomplished so far. We are slowly collecting data from the cleanups so we can pinpoint specific areas and types of cleanups that will be needed in the future. If you would like to participate in some of our underwater cleanups in the future, please send us an email and we will add you to the email so you can be notified of future events. We will also post a schedule on the site, along with continuing data and photos so you can check the progress and learn about upcoming cleanups. Please let us know if there are
underwater areas that you believe need to be cleaned and we will send a tram of
people out to assess the area, give recommendations on a cleanup and help to
schedule and event. Please contact us with any events that you would like to see added to this area. We are compiling information from other states through research and emails from our members. Thanks for your help in keeping your community aware of these important events.
