NOTE: THAT THIS IS THE LAST SCHEDULED ECO DIVE CLEANUP OF 2003

A special thanks goes out to to all those who helped out with the 2003 ECO Dive underwater cleanups.  Your  cleanup efforts yielded amazing results and we collected 13,898 aluminum cans and removed lots of other litter.  Please click here to see the numeric results of everyone's hard work.  Thanks for a great 2003!!

The Cleanup date:  Saturday March 27th, 2004
The Cleanup Site  Area Location: Pebble Beach Rec. Area
The entrance is located on the north side of the Bush highway, just west of the Blue Point Bridge.  Click the map for larger details
Time: 7:30 am
Focus of the Cleanup:

This is the kickoff cleanup of 2004.  We will meet at the Pebble Beach Recreation area and work on the cleanup site of last years big event.   There is still a lot of litter to be removed from this area.  Divers and non-divers are welcome to help.

Attention Divers:   On our last dive at the Pebble Beach was in November and we encountered the following conditions:
  • Water temperature at 15 feet was 74 degrees
  • Visibility was ok due to the lack of the  flow rate in the river.  Visibility was about 5-8 feet
  • There is still a tremendous amount of litter to be removed from this sites

The current water temperature will be colder than noted above.  We will provide a more accurate reading of the water temp sometime in February.

Please note the low visibility diving conditions of this site.  Good buoyancy control is  important, but you can still end up with a no visibility condition, so please be prepared.   This is a great way to become comfortable in low visibility conditions in an area with other experienced divers.  If you have any questions please call to Jay or Kim discuss them.

What to bring:
  • Bring a buddy if at all possible
  • Dive equipment (mask, fins, snorkel, B.C., etc)
  • Hood to cover your head and ears
  • 3mm gloves to use during the cleanup
  • Sunscreen and a hat
  • Exposure suit.  Wet suit recommended, some people dive 6mm others dive with 3mm.  I recommend not using your dry suits to avoid any potential punctures or tears due to cans or fishing hook

If you would like to participate in the this cleanup, please email us or call us with your contact information so we can provide you with appropriate directions to the site or additional information that might be needed.
